Our University Library is one of the most technologically sophisticated libraries in the nation, offering facilities such as writing centers, quiet study spaces, collaboration centers, and housing the Honors College and Graduate School Office.

Our residence halls provide a supportive community and easy access to campus amenities. We have three traditional residence halls: University Tower, North Hall, and Ball Hall. Students can also choose to live in the Riverwalk Apartments, our premium on-campus housing that offers students a balance of independence and community in a scenic location.

University Tower is a popular freshman-only residence hall, offering triple rooms and a dining hall. The space, which was once a hotel, is designed for comfort and convenience with a view of campus.

Eat at the tower

Stay fueled and feeling good throughout your day by stopping at Tower Dining, which offers students an all-you-care-to-eat culinary experience. You can also use your meal plan to dine at any of our other 100+ eateries on campus and around Indianapolis.

Sports and Recreation Facilities

Reach your fitness goals at our world-class, 117,000 square foot exercise facility. The National Institute for Fitness and Sport is the training facility for IU Indianapolis athletics teams, as well as professional and Olympic athletes. As a student, you鈥檒l have access to NIFS in addition to campus recreation opportunities like intramural and club sports, group fitness classes, open swims, and more when you purchase a membership.

IU Indianapolis is an NCAA Division 1 team in the Horizon League. Known as the Jaguars, we are home to 19 athletics programs. Students get free access to home games, including men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer and track and field teams, who play at Carroll Stadium. This historic venue also hosts community events and is the current home to the Indy Eleven professional soccer team.

The Natatorium is a premier facility for aquatic sports, home to the IU Indianapolis swimming and diving teams, and a venue for major competitions.

The James T. Morris Arena will include a basketball/volleyball court with seats for 4,500 patrons, as well as locker rooms, training facilities, and offices for IU Indianapolis Athletics and USA Track and Field. A significant portion of the seating will be retractable to provide flexibility and multipurpose use for events like collegiate and high school sports, including volleyball and wrestling, as well as other recreational activities. The project will include requisite concourse spaces, concessions, restrooms, storage and mechanical/electrical spaces to support the facility. Construction on the James T. Morris Arena is expected to conclude late in 2026.

In Taylor Hall, you鈥檒l find University College, the starting point for many undergraduates, which provides guidance and resources to ensure every student鈥檚 success. This vibrant space is home to IU Indianapolis鈥 Multicultural Center, Accessible Educational Services, and LGBTQ+ Center.

At IU Indianapolis, you can get involved in research opportunities as early as freshman year.

The STEM Lab in Indianapolis will enhance STEM education and curriculum for Hoosiers while advancing the growth of IU Indianapolis. Indianapolis Life

Many IU Indianapolis students enjoy the Canal, a picturesque waterway with walking paths, pedal boats, and scenic views right next to campus. The Canal is home to one of our most important traditions, the Regatta, which features half-mile canoe races, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and food vendors.

16 Tech is a 50-acre community in downtown Indianapolis dedicated to world-changing innovation and economic opportunity just minutes from the IU Indianapolis campus. The district is home to the AMP, an artisan marketplace and food hall showcasing local culinary entrepreneurs and vendors. It also houses Machyne, a well-equipped 21st century makerspace where innovators, creatives, and makers of all kinds bring big ideas to life in a fun and collaborative environment. Innovation Building 1 is a state-of-the-art office-lab building with multiple tenants including Indiana School of Medicine and various startup labs.
